Solo Spring Seat
Here is the Seat Pan. I drew up a card board pattern and traced it on to sheet metal. Then I cut it out using a cutting wheel on an electric angel grinder; which is what I've used to do all of my cutting for this project. I shaped it on a shot bag with hammers and dollies. This is actual was my 3rd seat pan. It took that may tries to get it looking right and comfortable.
I welded coupling connectors to washers then to the seat pan. These tapered rubber grommets act as dampers. After drilling holes through them I ran a screw and washer to fasten them to the connectors.
Next I welded on a door hinge and took out the pin and cut off the sides leaving a loop to mount to the frame.
For the padding I glued together 3 layers of carpet padding and shaped it with circular air sander. I covered the metal edges with duct tape and glued the padding the seat pan.
